The first thing that struck me about this house was how sympathetically and where possible; accurate the restoration has been; giving the house a feeling of still being in a different time, but with the comfort of everyday luxuries we expect in a house.

Set in a quiet little hamlet not far from Le Dorat and Bellac this house is renovated to a very high standard with a good sized garden and very well maintained barn and Yurt.

The closest village with shops to here is Le Dorat (7.5km) so even though the location seems like the middle of nowhere; you are actually only 7-10 minutes away from shops, bars, restaurants, supermarkets and a train station. The larger village étape of Bellac is only 15.8kms away.

Le Dorat is the traditional capital of the Basse Marche and within the ramparts of this ancient town are some fine examples of Romanesque architecture, including the Collegiale Saint-Pierre-de-Dorat.  The surrounding area has all year round attractions including horse racing (French style) sound and light shows; craft days; All year round markets as well as concerts, tennis, cinema, fishing, sailing and windsurfing in nearby locations.

Getting to the area is easy with flights from many UK airports into Limoges (49kms) and trains in Le Dorat itself (7.5kms); having links to services to Poitiers train station where you have TGV connections to Paris, Bordeaux, London & Brussels.
