This deceptively spacious hamlet cottage was as charming and pleasant as the lady who owns it. It has a wonderful homely feel to it and is certainly loved. I am sure the new owners will also appreciate its wonderfully calming ambiance. The cottage is the last one in the hamlet and a chemin runs past it with lovely walks around the surrounding countryside.
Situated at the end of a small hamlet just outside the village of St Christophe, and just 8 minutes’ drive from Brigueuil (which has a baker, butcher, post office, pharmacy, bar and I am told a soon to be reopened co-op. The cottage would make a perfect holiday or full time home for anyone wanting to embrace French life.
Only 19 minutes away you have the towns of Confolens and Saint Junien both set on the Vienne river and having all the amenities needed for everyday life including a markets, brocante shops and parks with sports facilities. A great base for getting around the Vienne, Charente and Charente Maritime, with many visitor attractions only a small drive away.
Limoges airport and train station are a 32-minute drive from St Christophe or you could go into Saint Junien to catch the train into Limoges. There you can connect with trains to Poitiers where you have cross platform TGV connections to Paris, Bordeaux and other French cities plus Brussels and London (via Lille).
The cottage has been renovated; but there is still scope to put your own personality into its delightful rooms. The outbuildings would make a quaint little gîte with spectacular views!
The house has Broadband, Mains Water and Electricity and is double glazed. Drainage is to a septic tank which conformed in 2009. Gas is bottled and it has wood fired heating.
The average broadband speed in this area is 3-8Mbps.
