I should know by now not to judge a book by its cover, but I did; and yet again, I was taken by surprise at what was behind this door. It was enough to brighten any dull day.

The pictures I have taken do not give justice to this home, it grabs you, with its cuteness and charm the minute you walk through the door.

Bellac as well as being a village étape, is a lively market town in the Haute Vienne region of the Limousin with a friendly French community nicely mixed with other nationalities from around the world, who make you feel at home from day one. It has all the amenities you need for a holiday destination or a new life in France -Cinema/Theatre/Swimming Pool/Train Station/Restaurants/Bars /Supermarkets/Shops/ Schools and Doctors; the list is limitless! 

 

Getting to the area is easy with flights from many UK airports into Limoges (33km) and trains in Bellac itself having links to services to Poitiers and Limoges train station where you have TGV connections to Paris, Bordeaux, London & Brussels.

The current owner has updated and kept the house in very good condition.

Set on 3 floors, with a great kitchen dining room with access to the courtyard on the first floor (and a separate WC) the second floor is on large room, with more than enough space to accommodate a sofa bed for extra guests, the third floor being what was two bedrooms and a shower room with WC; the first part is currently used as an office area.

Die Anreise in die Region ist einfach: Es gibt Flüge von vielen britischen Flughäfen nach Limoges (33 km) und Zugverbindungen direkt von Bellac aus nach Poitiers und zum Bahnhof von Limoges, wo Sie TGV-Anbindungen nach Paris, Bordeaux, London und Brüssel haben.

Je devrais pourtant savoir depuis le temps qu’il ne faut pas juger un livre à sa couverture, mais je l’ai fait ; et une fois de plus, j’ai été surpris par ce qui se cachait derrière cette porte. De quoi égayer n’importe quelle journée morose.

Bellac, en plus d’être un village-étape, est une ville de marché animée de la Haute-Vienne, dans le Limousin, où cohabitent harmonieusement une communauté française accueillante et des personnes de toutes les nationalités, qui vous font vous sentir chez vous dès le premier jour. On y trouve toutes les commodités nécessaires pour des vacances ou pour s’installer en France : cinéma, théâtre, piscine, gare, restaurants, bars, supermarchés, magasins, écoles et médecins ; la liste est infinie !

Il est facile de se rendre dans la région grâce aux vols au départ de nombreux aéroports britanniques à destination de Limoges (33 km) et aux trains au départ de Bellac même, qui assurent des liaisons vers Poitiers et la gare de Limoges, où vous trouverez des correspondances en TGV vers Paris, Bordeaux, Londres et Bruxelles.

Ik zou inmiddels moeten weten dat je een boek niet op zijn kaft moet beoordelen, maar dat deed ik toch; en opnieuw werd ik verrast door wat er achter deze deur schuilging. Het was genoeg om elke sombere dag op te vrolijken.

De foto’s die ik heb gemaakt, doen dit huis geen recht; het betovert je met zijn schattigheid en charme zodra je door de deur stapt.

Bellac is niet alleen een ‘village étape’, maar ook een levendig marktstadje in de Haute-Vienne, in de regio Limousin, met een vriendelijke Franse gemeenschap die mooi vermengd is met andere nationaliteiten uit de hele wereld, waardoor je je vanaf de eerste dag thuis voelt. Het beschikt over alle voorzieningen die je nodig hebt voor een vakantiebestemming of een nieuw leven in Frankrijk – bioscoop/theater/zwembad/treinstation/restaurants/bars/supermarkten/winkels/scholen en artsen; de lijst is eindeloos!

De regio is gemakkelijk te bereiken met vluchten vanaf vele Britse luchthavens naar Limoges (33 km) en treinen vanuit Bellac zelf, die verbindingen bieden naar Poitiers en het treinstation van Limoges, waar je TGV-verbindingen hebt naar Parijs, Bordeaux, Londen en Brussel.

De huidige eigenaar heeft het huis gemoderniseerd en in zeer goede staat gehouden.
