Places to Stay - Gites & B & B's

People are always asking me where the best places to stay in the area are and my only advice is to try to get central to where you are viewing houses, most of us (including me when I first came to France) underestimate the size of this wonderful country!
A good tip is to stay not far from one of the main routes through France, where that be the A10, A20 or the old Route Nationale the N147. I like just off the N147 and it serves me well giving me quick access to the Vienne, Haute Vienne & Charente regions of France.
On the website you will find a page called places to stay, it had a gîte complex and a B & B advertised on there; these are people I have sold houses to in the past; who have from there made themselves homes in France to be proud of and I am happy to promote their businesses in France.
WISDOM GITES
Carol & Rich Wisdom live at La Vergne, which is a small hamlet of two properties, once a working farm in bygone days. Their main house has a connected granny annex for Carols mother. Bought in 2013 they have since renovated an old piggery into a complex of two fully self-contained holiday cottages (known as “Gites” in France) set in fifteen acres of gardens and meadows, surrounded by majestic oaks. The grounds also contain several wildlife ponds and a one acre fishing lake for guest use. Throughout the grounds they have made freshly cut grass paths to allow for many walking route variations as well as easy access to all areas.

LA FORGERIE
Wendy & Rob Williams settle in France a few years ago after many years in the hospitality trade; they complement their life in France by renting out two newly renovated B & B rooms at their cottage and barns which use to be the Old Forgerie in the hamlet of Periaud, just outside Bussière-Poitevine. This is a great place to stop off when travelling down France to the south as it is just off the main route (N147), the village itself has everything you need, bars, restaurants, shops etc.
